(Alliance News) - FTSE 250 cruise line operator Carnival PLC said Thursday it will extend its pause of operations across three of its subsidiaries to December, in light of continued travel restrictions in Australia and New Zealand.
Carnival Cruise Line has extended its pause in departures from Australia through December 2 for Carnival Spirit and Carnival Splendor. The business has previously announced pauses through October 29.
Also extending the rolling pause in operations to December 2 was P&O Cruises Australia, which will affect the cruises Pacific Adventure, Pacific Explorer, Pacific Dawn And Pacific Aria.
P&O Cruises Australia will allow guests to cancel bookings for any reason up to 48 hours prior to the schedule date of departure for sailings until the end of January 2021.
"It is clear that society is not yet ready to return to sailing and we will continue to liaise with governments and public health experts as all align on how people should gather and holiday. Like our loyal guests, we remain hopeful that the start of summer will bring new opportunities for the entire travel and tourism industry, which contributes so much to many regional economies around Australia," said P&O Cruises President Sture Myrmell.
Princess Cruises has extended its pause in cruise operations in Australia and New Zealand to a later date on December 12, citing "the continued progression of Covid-19 and related decisions of various governments, health authorities, and airlines regarding travel restrictions".
Shares in Carnival were up 0.3% at 971.70 pence on Thursday in London.
