(Alliance News) - FTSE 250-listed cruise operator Carnival PLC said Thursday its subsidiary Carnival Cruise Line has cancelled cruises from all US homeports aside from Miami and Port Canaveral for November and December.
The group said that operations from the two exempted areas are still uncertain, but Carnival is focusing its initial return to service from those two homeports, whenever such a return may take place.
The decision to cancel cruises stems from the decision by the US Centers for Disease Control to extend its no-sail order for cruise operations.
"As we have said throughout this pause, our return to operations will be gradual and phased in. And while we are not making any presumptions, once cruising is allowed, we will center our initial start-up from the homeports of Miami and Port Canaveral," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
Shares in Carnival closed down 2.9% at 969.80 pence on Thursday in London.
