Carnival Cancels All October Cruises Following Extension Of CLIA Pause

5th Aug 2020 15:38

(Alliance News) - Carnival PLC said Wednesday that in line with the decision made by the Cruise Lines International Association, it will cancel all cruises that were scheduled to embark in October.

The CLIA earlier on Wednesday had made the decision to voluntarily extended the pause in US cruise embarkations until the end of October.

The FTSE 250 cruise ship operator said it will offer guests either an enhanced value package of a future cruise credit and onboard credit, or a full refund.

On Monday, Carnival said it had decided to cancel the planned short trips with AIDAperla and AIDAmar with departure dates between August 5 and August 12.

"If conditions in the US change and short and modified sailings are possible, the industry may consider an earlier restart, and we would consider that as well. In the meantime, we will continue to work with public health and government officials to finalise enhanced health and sanitation protocols and procedures that will guide our eventual return to service," the group stated.

Shares in Carnival were up 1.6% at 857.40 pence on Wednesday in London. The stock was down 76% since the year began.
