Carillion's UAE Joint Venture To Build Hard Rock Hotel In Abu Dhabi

LONDON (Alliance News) - Carillion Group PLC Wednesday said its joint-venture business in the United Arab Emirates has been awarded a GBP110 million contract by Aabar Properties to build a five-star Hard Rock Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

The joint venture, Al Futtaim Carillion, will build the hotel which will consist of 378 rooms, restaurants, meeting facilities and a Hard Rock Cafe.

The hotel, located in the Corniche area of the UAE capital, will include attractions such as a Sky Lobby on the fifth floor, a Lobby Bar with outdoor entertainment deck and hookah lounge, as well as a 37th floor Sky Bar swimming pool.

Hookah, also known as shisha, is a pipe used for smoking flavoured tobacco and is very popular in the UAE and the Middle East generally.

Construction is scheduled to begin this month, with completion in the first quarter of 2017.

The stock was trading at 351.93 pence Wednesday morning, up 2.73 pence or 0.8%.
