LONDON (Alliance News) - Carillion PLC said Monday that its 50:50 joint venture with Lafarge Tarmac has been chosen as one of the contractors to deliver the Medium Schemes Framework 2, in a deal worth an estimated GBP100 million to the companies.
Carillion, a support services company with a portfolio of public private partnership projects, said that the framework has a total value of approximately GBP260 million over a three year period, and has the option to extend the framework by a further year to June 2018.
Under the terms of the framework, the contract will include the delivery of a number of projects on behalf of the Alliance partners, including the reconfiguration of highway layouts, the construction of road and bridgeworks, resurfacing and associated enabling works, said Carillion.
The Midlands Highway Alliance is a collaborative arrangement between 20 Local Authorities that gives its members quick, standardised access to high-quality professional services for their civil engineering and highway schemes.
"Our appointment to this framework continues our strong work winning performance in 2014 and supports our view that the outlook in our selected sectors of the UK construction market continues to improve," said Carillion Chief Executive, Richard Howson.
In May the integrated support services company said its joint venture business, Al Futtaim Carillion, had signed, or had been chosen as the preferred bidder for, contracts in the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, worth over GBP400 million.
Shares in Carillion last traded at 355.1 pence per share.
