LONDON (Alliance News) - Carillion PLC on Friday said it has signed contracts worth around GBP200 million to provide facilities management services for public sector prisons in the UK.
The FTSE 250-listed construction and support services company said the award of the contracts is a confirmation of the announcement made by the UK Ministry of Justice in November last year, when Carillion was named preferred bidder on two contracts to provide a range of hard and soft facilities management services for the National Offender Management Service.
The contracts will cover prisons in London and the East of England in one tranche, and prisons in the South West, South Central and Kent and Sussex regions in the second.
The contracts, which will cover around 50 prisons, will be awarded for an initial five years, with the potential for two one-year extensions subject to performance.
Carillion said mobilisation has started and expects to start delivering the services on June 1.
