Capital & Counties says Covent Garden adds brands as Christmas looms

16th Nov 2021 12:20

(Alliance News) - Capital & Counties Properties PLC on Tuesday said its key Covent Garden asset in London has bolstered its offering with 10 new retail brands as the countdown to Christmas begins.

The London and Johannesburg-listed property firm's flagship asset is its "landmark estate" at Covent Garden.

It was valued at GBP1.7 billion as of June 30 and comprises over 1.1 million square feet of lettable space.

The company said apparel company Uniqlo, the luxury watch brand TAG Heuer, and the coffee shop chain WatchHouse Coffee have "agreed to terms" to open stores at its Covent Garden sites. Uniqlo is owned by Yamaguchi, Japan-based Fast Retailing Co Ltd, while TAG Heuer is part of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE.

Capital & Counties also said that the fashion brand Empresa has "signed on" for a shop space.

Lisa Eldridge, a beauty brand, and the retailer of handcrafted spirits Bullards Spirits have already opened stores. Fragrance brand Guerlain, luxury brand OTO, contemporary lifestyle firm Rails and jewellery company e&e will also open stores at Covent Garden sites.

"The ten new brands introduced add to Covent Garden's growing list of the very best British and international, fashion, beauty and luxury jewellery brands, including previously announced Glossier, Reformation and Experimental Group which will open in the new year," the company said.

Capital & Counties did not disclose the value of the leases.

Shares in the company were up 1.8% at 170.70 pence each on Tuesday afternoon in London. In Johannesburg, the stock was up 1.1% at ZAR34.79 on Tuesday afternoon.
