Capita Wins Royal Navy And Royal Marines Training Contract In UK

18th Dec 2020 10:53

(Alliance News) - Capita PLC on Friday said it has won a contract to provide training services to the UK Royal Navy and the Royal Marines.

The FTSE 250-listed outsourcer said that under the twelve-year contract worth around GBP1 billion, it will modernise the Royal Navy's shore-based training across 16 sites in the UK as the lead partner in a consortium which bid as Fisher Training.

The consortium is made up of Raytheon UK, Elbit Systems UK and Fujitsu, as well as several smaller British suppliers.

Capita stated the consortium will review and modernise all training courses and provide accompanying analytics to ensure training methods best meet the Navy's needs, run live on-the-ground training and develop and deploy new methods as well as manage all the associated Royal Navy training equipment including procurement and decommissioning.

It will also provide data through performance dashboards for Royal Navy management, manage IT infrastructure, improve accreditation and apprenticeship management, and market Royal Navy courses to the wider international defence market .

The contract is expected to be profitable in its first full year in 2021.

"We are delighted that the Royal Navy has selected us as the winning bidder following this highly competitive process, as we grow our capability in the defence training market. We look forward to working with the consortium of world-class partners that Capita has brought together and the Royal Navy to transform, modernise and create better outcomes for the training service," said Capita Chief Executive Jon Lewis.

Shares in Capita were trading 2.1% lower at 40.08 pence each on Friday morning in London.
