LONDON (Alliance News) - Outsourcing company Capita PLC Monday said that NHS England has named it as the preferred bidder to establish a single provider framework for administrative support functions for primary care across the UK.
In a statement, the outsourcer said its selection includes an initial contract to manage and deliver services in England. The four-year sole provider framework has a maximum total value of GBP1 billion.
Under the framework, the initial contract, which runs for seven to 10 years, for Capita to provide administrative support services for primary care in England is expected to be valued at up to about GBP400 million.
The company said the initial contract is to result in "significant savings" for NHS England.
"Capita will introduce a common set of services, processes and standards to improve the quality, reliability and sustainability of administration support services. Accessible services and better ways of working will contribute significant savings in keeping with NHS England's commitment to reduce administration costs and protect investment in frontline care," Capita said in a statement.
Capita shares were up 1.9% at 1,255.00 pence on Monday morning in London.
