Capita Chosen By John Lewis For GBP93.5 Million Online Project

17th Mar 2014 13:18

LONDON (Alliance News) - FTSE 100-listed outsourcer Capita PLC Monday said it has been chosen by John Lewis to provide its online contact centre in a deal worth GBP93.5 million over five years as the retailer seeks to grow its online presence.

Capita Chief Executive Andy Parker said it is "only natural" for John Lewis to use the latest technology and service design in order to offer a better experience to its customers.

"Capita has extensive experience of working with household names from across the private sector, including major retailers. We appreciate the importance of becoming fully immersed in a company's brand values to ensure that customer experience is at the heart of service delivery," Parker said in a statement.

Parker said the online contact centre will remain in Glasgow, Scotland, which he said demonstrates Capita's commitment to investing in Scotland and supporting the growth of the local economy.

"Capita already employs around 5,000 people in Scotland and we anticipate that this figure will rise by around 2,000 in the next two years," Parker said.

With a referendum on independence from the UK coming up in September, a number of companies, such as Standard Life PLC and Alliance Trust PLC have been taking steps to prepare for the possibility of a 'yes' vote.

Capita shares were Monday quoted at 1,104.00 pence, down 0.5%.
