LONDON (Alliance News) - Camco Clean Energy PLC Tuesday said its REDT energy storage business has won a contract from an unnamed agriculture business to install an energy storage system for a dairy roof mounted photovoltaic system in Somerset.
Camco said the installation, to be handled by energy storage services company Green Acorn, is designed to demonstrate the ability to time shift renewable energy generation to the UK grid, addressing ongoing concerns that solar power produces energy at the wrong time of day, making it difficult to match supply to demand.
Under the contract, Camco's REDT unit will deliver a 5-40 kilowatt energy storage system for the site.
No financial details were disclosed.
"We are pleased to be working with our partner Green Acorn to install our REDT systems in the UK. Energy storage is essential to unlock the full potential of renewables across the UK," said Camco Chief Executive Scott McGregor.
Shares in Camco were up 11% to 4.84999 pence on Tuesday morning, one of the best performers in the AIM All-Share index.
