Camco Clean Energy, REDTenergy Mark PV CROPS Project Launch

20th Oct 2014 08:08

LONDON (Alliance News) - Camco Clean Energy PLC and REDTenergy Monday marked the launch of the European Commission's PV CROPS project, which has the objectives of developing improved management, efficiency and cost reduction for renewable energy generated from solar photovoltaics installations.

Although Monday marks the official launch of the project with a ceremony in Evora, Portugal, the Evora system has been in operation at the University of Evora for the past 12 months, and has been running though various system configurations.

The project includes implementation of an REDT 60 kilowatt hour battery alongside a 6.6 kilowatt photovoltaic array. According to Camco Clean Energy the launch is an important step for REDT in proving the successful operation of its battery coupled with photovoltaic generation.

"We are delighted to be taking part in this project showcasing how storage and PV combined provide a disruptive technology solution. Together these technologies are set to revolutionise the energy market over the coming years. The REDT battery is ideal for integration with solar projects as its long storage durations and deep depths of discharge allow the battery to store enough energy to time shift solar power for use at night," Camco Clean Energy Chief Executive Scott McGregor said in a statement.

Camco Clean Energy shares were Monday quoted up 11% at 5.70 pence.
