Cambridge Cognition Forms Workplace Tests Venture With Shandwell

21st Sep 2015 08:36

LONDON (Alliance News) - Cambridge Cognition Holdings PLC on Monday said it has signed a deal with workplace health and wellbeing services provider Shandwell Ltd to launch Cantab Corporate Health Ltd and said the new venture has secured its first contract.

Cambridge Cognition, which makes computerised neuropsychological tests used for enabling early detection of diseases such as dementia, said the new venture will work with employers and healthcare providers in delivering sensitive and accurate cognitive assessments in the workplace, using the Cantab settings designed by Cambridge Cognition.

The tests will be run on Apple iPads and will provide reports in minutes to help identify any cognitive problems which can be managed in the workplace.

Cambridge Cognition said the venture will provide it with a new revenue stream through licensing revenue, royalties and product sales and provides it with an entry to the global corporate sector.

"With an ageing working population, there is an increasing need to manage the associated cognitive health risks. Our technology is being used widely in primary care, research and pharmaceutical development. This new venture with Shandwell, which has an excellent track record of introducing innovation into the corporate health and wellbeing sector, will demonstrate the benefits of our products on an even wider scale," said Cambridge Cognition Chief Operating Officer Steven Powell.

Shares in Cambridge Cognition were up 7.8% on the news to 89.9999 pence, one of the best performers in the London market.
