LONDON (Alliance News) - Cadogan Petroleum PLC Monday said that delayed and problematic tests on the upper part of the well-site at Borynya 3 have confirmed the presence of gas and condensates and porosity in the range of 10% to 15%.
In a trading update, the company said the test had been delayed after an unexpected failure of the bottom hole assembly , which caused brine to bleed into the well and meant it couldn't use pressure measurements to get more accurate test results.
"Two intervals have been tested so far, 2745-2685 metres and 2935-2890 metres. In each case testing resulted in a flow of gas and condensate that was consistent but non-sustainable; as condensate increased, the gas decreased and after approximately 48 hours, all gas and condensate flow ceased," the company said in a statement.
Despite this, the company said the clear presence of hydrocarbons means it will proceed with plans to assess the production potential of the well and further testing in the upper interval has begun using an acid wash that should improve flow and reduce formation surface damage.
"Due to the presence and nature of fluids and the petro-physical characteristics of the formation itself, the Company anticipates the need for a future acid-frac in order to obtain and support sustainable and commercial production at Borynya 3," it said.
It expects to report the results of the latest test within a few weeks.
