Bushveld Minerals Hires New Bushveld Vametco Project General Manager

5th Apr 2019 11:48

LONDON (Alliance News) - Vanadium producer Bushveld Minerals Ltd on Friday said it has appointed a new general manager for Bushveld Vametco and a new head of finance for the group.

Bertina Symonds will take over from current Bushveld Vametco head Malcolm Curror, with her position as general manager combining the duties of a chief executive and a chief operations officer. Curror will continue to provide consulting services to Bushveld Minerals.

Symonds was previously general manager of the Nkomati nickel mine, owned by African Rainbow Minerals Ltd.

Bushveld Minerals' flagship platform includes a 74% controlling interest in Bushveld Vametco Alloys Pty Ltd, a vanadium mining and processing company in South Africa.

Bushveld Minerals has also appointed Hiten Ooka as group finance head. Ooka will report to the company's finance director, Geoff Sproule. The role is newly created and covers financial reporting, as well as treasury, tax and consolidation.

Bushveld Minerals CEO Fortune Mojapelo said: "An important part of delivering on our growth aspirations is building sound leadership capacity. The addition of Bertina and Hiten to the team is excellent news indeed."

Mojapelo added: "This is an important year for Bushveld as we implement the transformational programme at Vametco in order to achieve the 2019 targets which we will continue to outline in future updates. We are confident that with these appointments we will be able to drive operational excellence across the group."

Shares in Bushveld Minerals were down 0.4% at 34.10 pence on Friday.
