Bushveld Minerals Gets Positive Results From Flotation Work

7th May 2014 12:56

LONDON (Alliance News) - Bushveld Minerals Ltd Wednesday said follow-up flotation work at its P-Q Zone deposit in the Limpopo province of South Africa demonstrates improved recoveries and the scope for premium phosphorus concentrate production.

The mineral development company with several operations in Southern Africa said that flotation tests improved concentrate grades to 37.86% phosphorus pentoxide from 33.25% and improved recovery rates to 53.33% from 42.06%.

The company said the flotation test work was carried out on mineralisation from its Hanging Wall region of the P-Q zone in order to help it to monetise the resource and improve the economics of the overall project.

The flotation process treats minerals by grinding ore into a powder, mixing it with water, and frothing reagents before collecting mineral particles which cling to the bubbles.

Bushveld said the results showed excellent concentrate grade, which could achieve a premium market price, and it sees the opportunity for further recovery increases.

The company said it is now focused on developing the potential resource, which was previously treated as waste in its April 2013 scoping study.

Bushveld Minerals shares were down 0.6% to 4.05 pence Wednesday.
