(Alliance News) - Burberry Group PLC said Wednesday it hired the Asia-Pacific head of drinks maker Diageo PLC to become a non-executive director at the luxury clothes maker.
Sam Fischer will join Burberry from Friday, also joining the the remuneration and nomination committees of the FTSE 100-listed firm. Fischer is president of Greater China & Asia Pacific at Diageo, the maker of Johnny Walker whisky and Tanqueray gin.
"Sam's experience and first-hand knowledge of leading iconic heritage premium brands will be a huge asset to Burberry as we grow our business in key Asian markets," Diageo Chair Gerry Murphy said. "We are delighted that he has accepted our invitation to join the Burberry board."
Shares in Burberry were 0.4% higher at 2,058.00 pence in London on Wednesday.
