(Alliance News) - Distribution and services firm Bunzl PLC on Monday said it has acquired Birmingham-based safety business Bodyguard Workwear.
Shares in Bunzl were down 8.7% at 1,752.00 pence in London in morning trading on Monday.
Bodyguard Workwear distributes personal protection equipment and safety workwear, predominantly to the UK and Ireland rail sectors. In 2019, Bodyguard Workwear reported revenue of GBP8 million.
Bunzl, which is headquartered in London, did not disclose financial details of the acquisition.
Frank van Zanten, Bunzl's chief executive, said: "This is an important development for our UK safety operations. Bodyguard Workwear is a well known and respected brand and the business is focused on the rail industry which is expected to grow further over the coming years. The acquisition pipeline continues to be promising with a number of ongoing discussions taking place."
