BT Sport Signs Seven-Year Content Deal With ESPN

LONDON (Alliance News) - BT Group PLC's BT Sport business has signed a deal with ESPN, the Walt Disney Co-owned sports network, covering the expansion of the range of ESPN content available via BT Sport.

The seven-year deal comes after the deal in 2013 which saw BT buy the UK & Ireland television business of ESPN. No financial details on the contract were revealed.

"Continuing with ESPN, one of the world?s leading sports brands, as part of the BT Sport portfolio is a win for our viewers, our partners and sport fans in the UK and Ireland. Our relationship with ESPN since BT Sport began operation of the ESPN channel in the UK and Ireland has been a big success, with the two companies collaborating on a number of initiatives," said BT Consumer Chief Executive John Petter.

Shares in BT were down 0.6% to 418.7075 pence on Thursday afternoon.
