LONDON (Alliance News) - BT Group PLC Tuesday outlined the pricing of its UEFA Champions League and Europa League coverage next season, saying it will be free for customers who take its BT TV service, but will cost GBP5 a month for BT Broadband customers.
The package pricing comes after BT won the right to show Uefa Champions League and Europa Cup games from next season, beating big rival Sky PLC to the rights. It is launching a new BT Sport Europe channel to show the games.
Access to the BT Sport channels via Sky will cost GBP13.50 per month, BT said.
Additionally, it will also launch an 'Ultra HD' 4K channel in Europe, BT Sport Ultra HD, in August as well as a BT TV Ultra HD set top box.
BT plans to make some matches available for free, available to non-subscribers, via a free-to-air channel on digital TV called BT Sport Showcase. This channel will show at least 12 Champions League matches and 14 Europa League matches.
BT's Champions League and Europa League coverage will be fronted by Gary Lineker, Jake Humphrey and Rio Ferdinand.
Shares in BT are trading up 0.8% at 442.20 pence Tuesday afternoon.
