British Land Says Cheesegrater 90% Let Amid "Good Start" To Year

20th Jul 2015 06:28

LONDON (Alliance News) - British Land Co PLC Monday said it has had a "good start" to its new financial year, with 129,000 square feet of retail lettings and renewals and 132,000 square feet of office lettings and renewals, as further space was let at the Cheesegrater skyscraper in the City of London.

Chief Executive Chris Grigg said the London-based property investment company had a "good start" to the year, with "real progress" being made.

"In Retail, our operational metrics remain strong and we continue to recycle capital by selling selected mature assets and investing into our existing portfolio. In Offices, we're pleased with the deals we've done at The Leadenhall Building and in the supply constrained City market we're positive about our prospects on the remaining space," Grigg said in a statement.

The Leadenhall Building skyscraper in the City of London, otherwise known as the Cheesegrater, is now about 90% let or under-offer, up from 84% at the full year ended March 31.

The company confirmed a 7.09 pence per share dividend for the first quarter, 2.5% ahead of the prior year.
