British Land Appoints Former Argent Chief For Canada Water Scheme

6th Nov 2015 07:43

LONDON (Alliance News) - Property developer British Land Co PLC on Friday said it has hired the former chief executive of property group Argent to lead the development of its Canada Water scheme in south London.

Roger Madelin will join the company in February 2016 and will sit on the group's executive committee. He is the former chief executive of Argent, having left the company in 2012.

British Land in March acquired Surrey Quays Leisure Park in south London in order to complete the formation of its Canada Water properties, which also includes Surrey Quays shopping centre and Harmsworth Quays.

The combined sites have the potential for around 5.5 million square foot of office, residential, leisure, educational and community space and will represent a major regeneration project for the capital, British Land said.

The group said it is currently working with the London Borough of Southwark and local communities on creating the overall plan for the project and expects to submit a planning application by the end of 2016.
