(Alliance News) - British American Tobacco PLC on Monday said Darrell Thomas will join the company as an independent non-executive director, with immediate effect.
The cigarette manufacturing company said Thomas brings significant financial, regulatory and US experience to the company's board, gained during his extensive career.
Thomas is currently vice president & treasurer for Harley-Davidson Inc. Prior to that, Thomas had a nineteen-year career in banking with Commerzbank Securities, Swiss Re New Markets, ABN Amro Bank and Citicorp/Citibank where he held various capital markets and corporate finance roles.
"I am pleased to welcome Darrell to our board. Darrell has extensive business experience in the US. He is also very experienced in regulatory affairs there. These strengths will complement the balance of skills on the board underlining the importance of the US to British American Tobacco," said Chair Richard Burrows.
British American Tobacco shares were trading 3.2% higher in London on Monday at 2,807.00 pence each, while in Johannesburg, the stock was up 1.7% at ZAR566.46 a share.
