LONDON (Alliance News) - A British Airways flight en route from Las Vegas to London was diverted to land at Montreal on Wednesday, amid unconfirmed reports of a threat against the aircraft.
Britain's Sky News quoted passengers on flight BA274 as saying they were told a "suspect device" was on board the plane.
The Montreal Gazette quoted unidentified sources as saying the plane had diverted to Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport "because of a bomb threat."
Photographs on social media showed a convoy of police vehicles with flashing lights heading towards the plane as it parked away from terminal buildings.
The 312 passengers and 17 crew were evacuated before police searched the plane, reports said.
"Our flight from Las Vegas to Heathrow landed safely this morning at Montreal and customers left the aircraft as normal after the captain took the decision to divert the aircraft as a precaution," a British Airways spokeswoman said.
"We are working with the Canadian authorities and giving them our fullest support," the spokeswoman said. She said the airline would provide hotel rooms for the passengers and "rebook them to other flights as soon as we can."
British Airways is owned by FTSE 100-listed International Consolidated Airlines Group.
