LONDON (Alliance News) - Breedon Group PLC on Friday said its subsidiary Breedon Northern Ltd has completed the acquisition of Blinkbonny Quarry Ltd for an undisclosed sum.
The construction materials firm said Blinkbonny operates a quarry and ready-mixed concrete plant near Kelso, Scotland. The acquisition provides Breedon with its first quarry in the region with about 2.8 million tonnes of high-quality basalt hard rock reserves and resources.
"Blinkbonny gives us a great opportunity to establish a presence in the Scottish borders, through a business with long-term mineral reserves and resources," said Breedon Northern Managing Director Alan Mackenzie.
"It is well invested, with modern plant and machinery, and has established an excellent reputation for quality and service among its customers in the surrounding area," Mackenzie added.
Shares in Breedon were trading flat at 83.10 pence each early on Friday.
