2nd Dec 2019 12:12

(Alliance News) - Construction materials firm Breedon Group PLC on Monday announced the appointment of Moni Mannings as an independent non-executive director, effective from December 1.

Breedon also said Monday David Williams will retire as a non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee at the end of 2019. Mannings is expected to succeed Williams as chair of Breedon's remuneration committee.

Williams commented: "Having served as a non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee since co-founding the company in 2008, I believe the time is now right to step down from the board in accordance with best governance practice."

Mannings has previously served as a board member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, a non-executive director of Cathedral City cheese maker Dairy Crest Group PLC and non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee of plastic piping firm Polypipe Group PLC.

She is a former partner and head of the International Banking & Finance division of law firm Olswang LLP, and has held senior positions with Dewey Ballantine LLP and Simmons & Simmons. Other past directorships include Aistemos Ltd and legal firm CMS.

She is currently senior independent director and chair of the remuneration committee of Investec Bank PLC, director at Barnardo's, the Felix Dennis Foundation, and the St Marks Hospital Foundation.

Breedon-on-the-Hill, Leicestershire-based Breedon shares were 0.3% higher in London on Monday at 69.82 pence.
