LONDON (Alliance News) - Breedon Aggregates Ltd Tuesday said it has expanded its Suffolk and Essex presence with the acquisition of two asphalt plants.
The company has bought a plant in Cavenham near Bury St Edmunds and in Wivenhoe near Colchester. The Cavenham plant is within a sand and gravel quarry owned and operated by Allen Newport Ltd, and the Wivenhoe plant is in quarry owned and operated by Lafarge Tarmac.
"These acquisitions will enable us to service a new community of customers in Essex and Suffolk and provide additional outlets for our aggregates," said Tim Hall, chief executive of Breedon Aggregates England.
"We now have a network of nine asphalt plants throughout central England, stretching from Leominster in the west to Norwich in the east," Hall added.
Breedon shares were up 1.4% to 41.8075 pence on Tuesday.
