Botswana Diamonds Recovers First Diamonds From Marsfontein Mine

12th Nov 2019 12:10

(Alliance News) - Botswana Diamonds PLC said on Tuesday it has recovered the first diamonds from plant commissioning activities on the Marsfontein diamond mine in South Africa.

The company said these diamonds came from the diamond bearing gravels and residual unprocessed stockpiles surrounding the Marsfontein mine.

The diamond explorer said plant commissioning is well advanced and optimization of the plant flow sheet is currently taking place and this will be followed by ramping-up to full production of 400-tons of pan feed per day.

Chair of the company John Teeling said: "I am delighted with the rapid progress the team has made on-site and it is noteworthy that the first diamonds were recovered within two weeks of the Mining Permit being granted."

On October 28 the company announced it was granted a mining permit for the diamond bearing gravels and residual unprocessed stockpiles around the Marsfontein diamond mine in South Africa.

Botswana Diamonds shares were down 13% in London at 1.15 pence each on Tuesday.
