Botswana Diamonds Identifies Targets In Orapa

5th Jun 2014 09:13

LONDON (Alliance News) - Botswana Diamonds PLC Thursday said it has identified targets for further testing at its PL117/2011 site in the Orapa region of Botswana following first results of its joint venture exploration programme at the site.

The diamond mining company said the first phase of analysis by its joint venture partner AK Alrosa OAO of data collected on PL117 has been completed and it has identified two targets AN117/1 and AN117/2 in the northern part of the block and three further anomalies AN1,AN2 and AN4.

Botswana Diamonds said the two targets in the northern part of the block have been identified as having high potential to be new kimberlite discoveries. It said the AN117/2 site is scheduled to be drilled in September and the AN117/1 site will be further defined by an electromagnetic survey, with a view that it will be progressed towards drilling.

The company said the three other anomalies also need further work to define drill targets.

Botswana Diamonds shares were down 2.2% to 2.69 pence on Thursday.
