Botswana Diamonds Finds Strong Anomaly On Botswana Licence

18th Jun 2015 10:58

LONDON (Alliance News) - Botswana Diamonds PLC Thursday said it had identified a strong anomaly on one prospecting licence during the latest fieldwork programme in Orapa, Botswana on the PL206-210/2014 licences and drill targets are being determined, although other licences will require further sampling to find the source of kimberlite indicator minerals.

It said its Sunland Minerals joint venture with Alrosa carried out heavy concentrate sampling of soil, hard rock sampling, in-field mineralogical analysis, electromagnetic surveying and ground magnetic surveying. The results of the follow-up analysis highlighted a strong geological anomaly on PL210, considered prospective for the discovery of kimberlite. It will be drilled in September.

It will do further soil sampling and electromagnetic work to establish the source of the kimberlite indicator minerals on both PL206 and PL207.

"In addition to the next stage of exploration in Orapa, work will also begin in Gope on PLs 135 and 136 where two magnetic anomalies have been identified. A rapid programme of soil sampling and transient electromagnetic surveying will be conducted to confirm the anomalies and the precise drill targets," it said.

"We have identified a very strong anomaly on PL210, which we will drill. The new ground that we have acquired in Gope also looks very promising. The ongoing joint venture with Alrosa goes from strength to strength," Botswana Diamonds Chairman John Teeling said.

Botswana Diamonds shares were down 3.6% at 1.06 pence Thursday morning.
