Botswana Diamonds Completes Two-Farm Drill Programme At Thorny River

4th Apr 2019 12:12

LONDON (Alliance News) - Botswana Diamonds PLC on Thursday said it has concluded its intensification drilling programme on the Frischgewaagt and Hartbeesfontein farms of its Thorny River project in South Africa.

Shares in the diamond exploration company were down 3.4% at 0.72 pence on Thursday.

The purpose of this drilling was to help plan a bulk sampling programme at Thorny River. Bulk sampling is due to start in the second quarter of the year once regulatory approval is granted.

"The intensification drilling programme has allowed further definition of the kimberlite blow/fissure complex and added to data already generated by gravity, magnetic, maxmin and other advanced exploration techniques," said Botswana Diamonds.

In total, the intensification drilling programme consisted of 33 holes and 1,282 metres of drilling. A bulk sampling target of 3.9 kilometres of linear kimberlite fissure intersection has been found at Thorny River, with intersection of up to 18 metres from 4 metres below the surface.

A diamond processing plant to process kimberlite from Thorny river has also been commissioned.
