LONDON (Alliance News) - Booker Group PLC on Wednesday said it has appointed Stewart Gilliland as non-executive chairman, succeeding Richard Rose who will step down on July 8.
Gilliland joined Booker in 2010 and is currently an independent non-executive director. He is also currently senior independent director of Mitchells & Butlers PLC and Vianet Group PLC, and a non-executive director of C&C Group PLC and Sutton and East Surrey Water PLC.
Gilliland is the former chief executive of Muller Dairies UK and Ireland and has also held senior roles with companies including Whitbread PLC and Belgium-based brewing company Interbrew.
"Stewarts' considerable experience in both the wholesale and retail sectors is invaluable. His appointment has my full support as well as that of the board and the senior executive team, and I wish him, Charles and the team well for continued success in the future," Richard Rose said in a statement.
Booker previously had said Rose will step down after three years at the helm. Rose is also the chairman of FTSE 250-listed electrical appliances retailer AO World PLC and is the chairman-elect of AIM-listed insurance outsourcing and technology company Quindell PLC.
Shares in Booker Group were trading down 0.2% at 173.70 pence Wednesday morning.
