BlueRock Poaches Johan Milho From Petra Diamonds To Head Up Kareevlei

22nd Jun 2016 09:41

LONDON (Alliance News) - BlueRock Diamonds PLC Wednesday said it has appointed a new mine manager to the company's Kareevlei mine in South Africa, bolstering the management team in the country as part of the strategic review launched earlier this year.

Johan Milho will manage the mine located in the Northern Cape province of the country, bringing over 35 years experience within the mining and diamond industry.

Milho is leaving his role at fellow London-listed Petra Diamonds Ltd and has previously worked for commodity giant BHP Billiton PLC and worldwide leading diamond firm De Beers, which is controlled by Anglo American PLC.

BlueRock said Milho's work at BHP and De Beers was also within the Northern Cape province and said his experience is "very relevant" to the company's Kareevlei mine.

Milho is replacing Willie van Wyk, who has become the director of mining operations for Kareevlei Mining (Pty) Ltd, BlueRock's sole operating subsidiary where he will continue to provide support to the operating team. Van Wyk is also BlueRock's Black Economic Empowerment Partner, making him an integral member of the operation.

BlueRock launched a strategic review of the business in March and then appointed Adam Waugh as its new chief executive in April, moving previous Chief Executive Riaan Visser to head up Kareevlei Mining Pty.

BlueRock shares were untraded on Wednesday morning, last trading at 12.0 pence per share.
