Bluejay Mining Gets Approval For Dundas Social Impact Assessment

24th Feb 2020 12:57

(Alliance News) - Bluejay Mining PLC said Monday the Greenland's Ministry of Mineral Resources has confirmed the miner's Social Impact Assessment for the Dundas ilmenite project is in line with guidelines for public consultation.

The SIA concluded that the construction and commencement of the ilmenite sand mine will have a positive effect on people's livelihoods.

Both the social impact assessment and environmental impact assessment will be presented to the government for approval to start the public consultation as part of the approval process for an exploitation licence.

London-based Bluejay itself has started discussions with the ministry of Industry, Energy, Research and Labour regarding the new amendments to the Large-Scale Project Act, with the intent of evaluating the option of applying for a large-scale project permit as well as the exploitation licence.

"We are extremely pleased to have both the SIA and EIA confirmed as compliant, which are necessary and important components of the exploitation application process. This is a key milestone for Dundas as we focus on commercial production. Both studies should soon be released for public consultation and will, we anticipate, demonstrate a high-quality and thorough assessment of Dundas' future development schedule," said Chief Executive Officer Roderick McIllree.

Shares in Bluejay Mining were down 1.6% at 8.52 pence on Monday in London.
