(Alliance News) - Bloomsbury Publishing PLC said Wednesday revenue for the first four months of its year were down after a strong performance the year prior, although the firm remains confident for full year results.
For the four months ended June, revenue was down 3% on the year prior due to a strong comparator the year prior. Bloomsbury said results tend to be second half weighted.
The publisher emphasised Non-Consumer revenue grew during the period following "continued strong performance" from its Academic & Professional division. This was offset, however, by weaker sales from the Consumer unit.
This was primarily due to a strong performance the year prior, in which "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain experienced unexpectedly high sales.
Bloomsbury said in December it will release "Lose Weight & Get Fit" by Tom Kerridge which will be accompanied by a six-part BBC Two series. The previous two books by Kerridge - also accompanied by a series - have been "significant" titles over the last two years.
Overall, Bloomsbury reported its performance for the year ending February 2020 was currently "in line" with management expectations.
Shares in Bloomsbury were 0.3% higher at 234.67 pence in London on Wednesday. The firm will release its interim results on October 29.
