3rd Apr 2019 11:29

LONDON (Alliance News) - BlackRock World Mining Trust PLC on Wednesday said it has nominated David Cheyne to be its new chair and will succeed Ian Cockerill who will retire from the role in May.

The appointment follows the announcement of Cockerill's decision to stand down following his appointment to the board of mining giant BHP Group PLC.

Meanwhile, Cheyne has been on the board of BlackRock World Mining since 2012 and in his previous career as a lawyer had extensive experience of acting for leading mining companies, including miners Anglo American PLC and Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd.

The company also said it intends to seek to appoint one or more additional directors with appropriate industry experience.
