(Alliance News) - Video editing platform Blackbird PLC said Wednesday the US Department of State has chosen the company for video production.
The contract value, Blackbird said, is for a "six-figure US dollar amount each year". The contract is for one year but has multi-year extensions available.
The contract will see the Department of State use Blackbird's cloud video editing platform to publish "fast turnaround" digital news to its own and other online news outlets.
Blackbird noted the contract with the US government has been signed with Blackbird's US partner Aperture Solutions Group.
"The US Department of State's video and production teams will be able to use Blackbird to rapidly clip, edit and publish news broadcast seconds after live to its social channels including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, as well as delivering longer form content to its own website and other digital news outlets," Blackbird said.
Chief Executive Ian McDonough added: "We are delighted to win this publicly competed tender from such a high-profile international customer. As a large-scale non-traditional video broadcaster who is expanding their output, the US Department of State had the entire plethora of available technology and more traditional tools to choose from.

Shares in Blackbird were 1.8% higher in London on Wednesday at 13.08 pence each.
