Bioquell Says Some Divisions Ahead, But Cautions Asia Orders Hard To Forecast

15th Nov 2013 11:51

LONDON (Alliance News) - Bioquell PLC said Friday that both orders and revenues for the period ended October were ahead of the previous year in its Bio division and its Testing, Regulatory and Compliance division, but cautioned that it continued to face challenges in forecasting the timing of its equipment orders in Asia.

The biotechnology company said that although it has seen high levels of enquiries and quotes in Asia for its hydrogen-peroxide vapour equipment, used for decontamination, order levels continued to fluctuate.

The spread of drug-resistant bacteria, particularly feared 'superbugs' such as carbapenem-resistant enterobacteriaceae, in Europe and the USA helped drive demand for Bioquell's emergency Room Bio-Decontamination Service in the period.

The company also saw increased levels of interest from the UK National Health Service for its Infection Control Enclosure pods. Two ICE pods already deployed in the Middle East have received positive feedback, Bioquell said, and it has been investing resources to support the commercial roll-out of product.

Bioquell's testing, regulatory and compliance division continued to trade well in the period.

Bioquell shares were trading down 6.8% Friday morning at 137.00 pence.
