LONDON (Alliance News) - Biome Technologies PLC said that a consortium it is leading in partnership with the University of Warwick, the University of Leeds and the Centre for Process Innovation has been awarded a grant through the UK government's Industrial Biotechnology Catalyst competition.
It will undertake a three-year project for "bioplastic polymers based on aromatic dicarboxylic acids derived from lignin". The projectwill build on Biome's previous research into deriving organic chemicals from lignin for the manufacture of bioplastics.
Biome will contribute GBP200,000 toward the project, which has a total cost of GBP1.7 million. It didn't specify the amount of the government grant.
Shares in Biome are untraded Thursday at 85.00 pence per share.
