LONDON (Alliance News) - Billing Services Group LTD said Friday that it was review a report from Magistrate Judge Henry Bemporad in which he recommends granting, in part, the Federal Trade Commission's request for an order of contempt against Billing Services.
The FTC is seeking a civil contempt ruing against Billing Services over claims that the company placed fake charges on phone bills, such as voicemail of streaming video charges, that the customers did not authorise or know about. It is asking for a federal court to make the company pay damages.
Billing Services provides clearing, settlement, payment and financial risk management services to the telecommunications industry, merchants and online stores. It said that as the contempt finding recommended by Bemporad is much more limited than that suggested by the FTC, Bempora has further recommended that additional proceeding be held in advance of any determination of damages.
Billing Services is untraded Friday, and last traded down 7.7% at 3.00 pence.
