(Alliance News) - Biffa PLC on Monday said UK watchdogs have cleared the path for the company to acquire the collections business and a number of recycling assets from Viridor Waste Management.
Waste management firm Biffa announced the GBP126 million deal back in May. Viridor was sold by water utility Pennon Group PLC in July of last year to funds advised by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.
Biffa on Monday said the UK Competition & Markets Authority has "no further questions" in relation to the deal to buy the Viridor assets.
The company expects to complete the transaction at the end of August.
Biffa shares were 1.7% higher at 336.00 pence each in London on Monday morning.
