(Alliance News) - Rubbish disposal firm Biffa PLC on Monday expressed support for Chair Ken Lever amid concerns over his other commitments.
In July, the firm said a fifth of shareholders had voted against the re-appointment of Lever, who was appointed in March 2018. He had previously been a non-executive director at Biffa.
Biffa said it was aware of shareholder concerns over the time commitments of board members, and said Monday it is "confident" Lever has enough time for the role.
"The board believe that the chair plays a pivotal role in helping drive the strategy of the group and remain fully supportive of the role and guidance he provides to the company," it said.
Some of Lever's other roles include being the chair of consultancy business RPS Group PLC, as well as serving on the boards of vehicle retailer Vertu Motors PLC, robotics firm Blue Prism PLC, and investor Gresham House Strategic PLC.
Biffa shares closed 0.2% lower on Monday in London at 251.50 pence each.
