(Alliance News) - BHP Group PLC on Tuesday said Terry Bowen has been appointed to the Transurban Group board, and there will be a limited overlap between Bowen and fellow director Lindsay Maxsted on the BHP and Transurban boards.
Bowen, a non-executive director at BHP, will join Australian toll-road operator Transurban effective February 1. While Lindsay Maxsted won't stand for re-election at BHP's 2020 annual general meeting, there will be a limited overlap period between Bowen and Maxsted on the BHP and Transurban boards.
Bowen has been appointed to chair multinational resource firm BHP's risk & audit committee starting May 2020, while Maxsted will stay on the risk & audit committee until he retires.
Bowen is presently managing partner & head of the operations group at BGH Capital. Once he joins Transurban's board, he will reduce his BGH responsibilities and transition to a part-time role as partner & chair of the operations group.
Shares in BHP were up 1.0% at ZAR338.86 in Johannesburg on Tuesday morning. They were up 0.5% at 1,813.60 pence in London. Transurban shares closed up 0.9% in Sydney at AUD15.63.
