Bezant up 10% as Namibia approves Hope & Gorob environment permit

2nd Apr 2025 11:31

(Alliance News) - Bezant Resources PLC on Wednesday said the environmental clearance certificate for its Hope & Gorob copper-gold project in Namibia has been approved, marking a "critical step" toward the formal issuance of its mining licence.

Shares in Bezant Resources were up 10% at 0.027 pence in London on Wednesday afternoon.

The copper and gold exploration company with projects in Africa, South America and the Philippines said the certificate - published by Namibia's Ministry of Environment & Tourism - follows the earlier acceptance of its mining licence conditions and represents a major milestone in the project's advancement.

Bezant explained that while it awaits formal written confirmation, the environmental clearance certificate, or ECC, activates the process of officially granting Mining Licence number 246, previously approved by the Ministry of Mines & Energy in October 2024.

The ECC approval comes after the government signed off on the project's social & environmental impact assessment and environmental management plan, which outlines the operational standards and environmental protections for the project's lifespan.

Bezant said it will now proceed with completing financing and preparing to start the construction of the mine.

Executive Chair Colin Bird said: "The approval of the ECC is an important milestone in the development of the Hope & Gorob Project. We look forward to providing further updates as we move towards project development."
