LONDON (Alliance News) - Berkeley Mineral Resources PLC Thursday said it expects to start production at its Kabwe site in the fourth quarter this year.
The AIM-listed resource company with operations in Zambia also said its subsidiary Enviro Processing Limited is to commence the processing of copper tailings in Northern Zambia after the introduction of a new copper processing plant at Kabwe.
Copper tailings are ground rock and process waste generated in a mine processing plant. The physical and chemical characteristics of the slurry which is recovered and the methods of handling and storage are controversial.
Berkeley Mineral Resources shares were up 0.02 pence at 2.32p in early trading Thursday.
