LONDON (Alliance News) - Berkeley Mineral Resources PLC Monday said it has been informed by the Zambia Environmental Management Agency that it will need an Environment and Social Impact Assessment for its proposed washplant tailings and leachplant processing facility in Kabwe, Zambia.
The mineral processing firm said this would allow it to move forward with plans to extract all the minerals from both the washplant and leachplant tailings at the former mine site.
The company's 100% owned Zambian subsidiary, Enviro Processing Limited, has appointed African Mining Consultants Limited to carry out the assessment.
The first stage will be the submission of a terms-of-reference report, which should be completed in three to four weeks.
Berkeley Minerals Resources shares were trading at 2.48 pence Monday morning, down 0.02 pence or 0.9%.
