Berkeley Mineral Resources Progressing With Kabwe Project

6th Oct 2014 07:34

LONDON (Alliance News) - Berkeley Mineral Resources PLC Monday said the final lead and zinc flowsheet design for the Kabwe project in Zambia is underway and said it expects to make a final processing decision soon.

The company said the simplification of the gravity flowsheet for the lead and zinc processing at the site is expected to outline a more robust and management process which will enhance the economic returns cited in the definitive feasibility study.

The company also said its Enviro Processing Ltd subsidiary has received a proposal for supplies of copper feedstock concentrate which would result in a substantial expansion of the copper processing plant at Kabwe.

"We remain clearly focused on reaching the position where we can order, install and put into operation the lead and zinc washplant tailings processing plant which will maximise Berkley's returns," said Masoud Alikhani, Chairman of Berkeley.

"Since receiving the ZEMA approval, we have commissioned the final studies and put in place the management resources to achieve this aim in the shortest possible time," Alikhani added.

Berkeley shares were down 3.2% to 1.5 pence on Monday.
