LONDON (Alliance News) - Benchmark Holdings PLC said Monday that it started producing salmon eggs at its new breeding facility in Salten, Norway.
Shares in the salmon genetics company were trading 5.0% higher at 61.94 pence each.
"The Salten facility has been built to the highest standards of technology and bio-security, and will be the most modern salmon egg production site in the world," the company said.
The facility, developed during a two-year process with a GBP40 million investment, will increase the company's in-house capacity by 75%.
"Sales of fertilised eggs will commence in November 2018 and additional fish will be brought into the facility to ramp up volumes throughout 2019," Benchmark added.
