LONDON (Alliance News) - Belgravium Technologies PLC Wednesday said it has won a contract worth GBP1.1 million from rail operator First Great Western to provide an end-to-end IT system on-board its fleet of trains.
All of First Great Westerns trains will be hard-wired for Wi-Fi and GPRS communication which will allow the new system to communicate in real-time with host stock control, sales and marketing systems. The new on-board retail system will be based on the Belgravium's front-end software running on the company's latest generation mobile computer.
Belgravium, which provides mobile on-board retail solutions, said the majority of the systems components will be delivered this year.
"It is gratifying that the First Great Western team identified clear technical and operational benefits relating to our proposed end-to-end IT system," Managing Director Mark Hard said in a statement.
"The past six months has seen significant changes to our team operating in the airline and rail sectors and the award of this contract is a great endorsement of the work the new team is doing," he added.
The stock was trading at 5.05 pence Wednesday morning, up 0.68 pence or 15.43%, making it the fourth highest gainer on the AIM market.
