Beazley Appoints Insider Sally Lake As New Finance Chief From May

17th Jan 2019 08:50

LONDON (Alliance News) - Beazley PLC said Thursday insider Sally Lake will become the finance head of the FTSE 250-listed reinsurance firm from May when current incumbent retires.

Lake - at Beazley since 2006 and group actuary since 2014 - will replace Finance Director Martin Bride in May. Bride announced his intention to retire from the role in July 2018, having been at Beazley since 2009.

Beazley explained that prior to her appointment as group actuary she had held "several senior roles" at the firm and gained "considerable breadth of experience."

"I am delighted that Sally will be taking up the role and I look forward to working closely with her," Beazley Chief Executive Officer Andrew Horton said. "Sally brings exceptional skills, energy and relevant experience to the role and it is pleasing that we have been able to promote from within the organisation."

Beazley also announced that Non-Executive Director Angela Crawford-Ingle would stand down at the end of the 2018 accounting year. This is after Crawford-Ingle - who is also chair of the audit & risk committee - concludes the second of her two three-year terms.

The firm has begun the search for her successor both as non-executive and chair of the committee.

"Angela has been an excellent chair of the audit and risk committee and contributor to the board," Beazley Chair David Roberts said. "I, together with the rest of the board, would like to extend our sincere thanks to her for the technical expertise and experience, which have been invaluable."

Non-Executive Director Christine LaSala will also join the nomination and remuneration committees from March 21.

Shares in Beazley were 0.2% lower at 515.50 pence on Thursday.
